About the Reels Maker

A guided version of the editor built for one job: a short vertical video whose cuts land on the beat of a track. Pick a template, drop your clips and photos into its slots, and the cut points are placed for you from the music's detected beats. It exports a 9:16 MP4 sized for Reels, TikTok and Shorts, with no watermark and no account.

How to use the Reels Maker

  1. 1Pick a templateEach one comes with a track and a cutting pattern already laid out — fast beat cuts, slower holds, or a mix. The template decides how many slots you need to fill.
  2. 2Fill the slotsDrop in your own clips and photos, or take footage from the stock panels. Each slot is trimmed to its beat automatically, so a long clip is fine.
  3. 3Adjust the timing if you want toBeat detection is analysis, not magic — it reads the track's energy peaks. If a cut lands slightly off, nudge it on the timeline.
  4. 4ExportThe result is a 9:16 MP4, encoded on your device. Nothing is uploaded and there is no watermark.

How the beat detection works

The track is decoded in the browser and analysed with the Web Audio API for peaks in energy over time. Those peaks become candidate cut points, and the template picks from them at the spacing it wants — every beat, every other beat, or on the bar.

It works best on music with a clear, steady pulse: most dance, pop and hip-hop. Sparse acoustic material, rubato playing and spoken word have no reliable pulse to find, and there the automatic cuts are worth checking before you export.

Reels Maker or the full editor?

Reels Maker is the faster route when the output is a vertical, music-led montage — the structure is decided for you and you are only choosing footage. Use the full editor when you need something the template does not do: a different aspect ratio, several audio tracks, captions placed precisely, or clips that are not cut to the music.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a watermark?
No. The exported MP4 carries no watermark or branding.
Can I use my own music?
Yes — drop in any audio file and it is analysed the same way as the stock tracks. Use music you have the rights to; copyrighted songs can get a video muted or taken down after upload.
What aspect ratio does it export?
9:16 vertical, which is what Instagram Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts expect. For other shapes, use the full editor.
Does my footage get uploaded?
No. Clips, photos and audio are read into the tab and processed there. The page loads ads and fetches the encoder from a public CDN on first export, but your media is not part of either request.
Will my project still be here tomorrow?
No. Everything lives in the tab and is cleared when you close or reload it, because nothing is stored on a server. Export before you leave.
