Best image sizes for social media in 2026

The right dimensions for Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook and X — plus how to resize any photo to fit them in seconds.

Every platform crops and compresses images differently. Upload the wrong dimensions and your photo gets awkwardly cropped or looks soft. Here are the sizes that actually work in 2026, and a fast way to hit them exactly.

Instagram

  • Feed post (square): 1080 × 1080 (1:1)
  • Feed post (portrait): 1080 × 1350 (4:5) — takes up the most screen space
  • Stories & Reels: 1080 × 1920 (9:16)

YouTube

  • Thumbnail: 1280 × 720 (16:9)
  • Channel banner: 2560 × 1440 (safe area 1546 × 423)

TikTok

  • Video cover / vertical image: 1080 × 1920 (9:16)

Facebook & X (Twitter)

  • Facebook shared image: 1200 × 630
  • X (Twitter) post image: 1600 × 900 (16:9)
  • X header: 1500 × 500

How to resize a photo to these dimensions

You don't need Photoshop. The Resize Image tool has one-click presets for these sizes, plus a custom width and height with an aspect-ratio lock.

Step 1

Upload your image

Drop a JPG, PNG or WebP into the resizer.

Step 2

Pick a preset or size

Choose Instagram post, YouTube thumb, or type exact dimensions.

Step 3

Choose how it fits

Fit keeps the whole photo (with padding); Fill crops to cover the frame edge-to-edge.

Resize ImageScale to exact pixels or a social preset — instantly, in your browser.

If the framing is off, crop it first with Crop Image — it has the same aspect-ratio presets so you can lock to 1:1 or 9:16 before resizing.

Tip: export as WebP to keep files small without losing quality — most platforms accept it now.
