Add Page Numbers
Add Page Numbers stamps a running number onto every page of a document, in the position you choose. Number a report, contract or manuscript before sharing it — the numbers are drawn onto the pages in your browser, with a live preview of the first page.

What you are adding
Numbers are drawn as text into each page, so they print correctly and stay sharp at any zoom.
A PDF reader shows its own page count in the toolbar. These numbers are part of the document, which is what matters once it is printed.
Where they go
- Bottom centre
The safe default. Rarely collides with content and reads naturally in a printed document.
- Bottom outer corner
The convention for anything bound, because the outer corner is what you see when flipping through.
- Mind the margin
Too close to the edge and home printers or a binding will clip them. Keep them inside the printable area.
Worth checking first
Numbers already on the page — A document exported with its own footer will end up with two competing numbers.
Get the order right first — Numbering then reordering produces a document whose numbers are wrong. Reorder, then number.
Cover pages — Decide whether the cover counts as page one, then check that the number you see matches what the reader expects.

Your file, and what the page does
Your file is never uploaded. Add Page Numbers reads it into this browser tab and processes it with pdf-lib on your own device. There is no upload endpoint in the application and no copy on any server — closing the tab discards it.
What the page does send or fetch
- Ads on the page
- The site is funded by advertising, so the page loads Google AdSense. That carries the usual web basics — IP address, browser, referring page — as on any ad-supported site.
- An anonymous usage counter
- When Add Page Numbers finishes we record that the tool ran, whether it succeeded and how long it took. No file data, no identifier, no cookie.
Your file is not on that list. How this works.
