Watermark PDF

Watermark PDF stamps text — like DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL or your name — across every page of a document. Choose the position, size, opacity, angle and colour, from a single centred stamp to a repeating tiled pattern. It's applied in your browser with pdf-lib, so your file is never uploaded.

What a watermark does, and does not do

It marks

A watermark states status or ownership — DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL, a company name. Its job is to travel with the document so any copy carries the label.

It does not protect

A watermark can be removed by anyone with a PDF editor, and it does not stop copying, printing or extracting the text. It is a label, not a lock.

Making it work

  • Diagonal across the page

The hardest position to crop out and the clearest signal of status.

  • Light enough to read through

Around 10–20% opacity marks the page without making the document hard to read.

  • Every page

A watermark on the cover alone is defeated by sending page four.

Worth knowing

  • Not redactionIf information must not be seen, it has to be removed from the file, not covered. Text under a watermark is still selectable.

  • It affects printingA watermark that looks subtle on screen can be heavy on paper. Print one page before committing.

  • It is permanent hereThe mark is drawn into the exported document. Keep the unwatermarked original.

Your file, and what the page does

Your file is never uploaded. Watermark PDF reads it into this browser tab and processes it with pdf-lib on your own device. There is no upload endpoint in the application and no copy on any server — closing the tab discards it.

What the page does send or fetch

Ads on the page
The site is funded by advertising, so the page loads Google AdSense. That carries the usual web basics — IP address, browser, referring page — as on any ad-supported site.
An anonymous usage counter
When Watermark PDF finishes we record that the tool ran, whether it succeeded and how long it took. No file data, no identifier, no cookie.

Your file is not on that list. How this works.
