Sign PDF

Sign PDF lets you draw your signature and drop it onto a document — no printing or scanning. Sign with a mouse, trackpad or finger, pick the page, click where it goes, and size it to fit. The whole thing happens in your browser, so your document and signature never leave your device.

What kind of signature this is

The distinction matters, and most people signing a PDF do not know there is one.

An electronic signature

A picture of your signature placed on the page. It is what almost everyone means by signing a PDF, and it is legally sufficient for a great many everyday agreements.

Not a digital signature

A digital signature is a cryptographic certificate that proves who signed and detects any later change. That requires an issued certificate and is a different thing entirely.

Placing it

  • On the line

Sitting on or just above the printed signature line, at a size comparable to handwriting.

  • With a date

Many agreements expect a date beside the signature. Adding it as text is usually acceptable.

  • Every page initialled

Some contracts ask for initials on each page. Check before returning the document.

Worth knowing

  • Acceptance varies by documentMany jurisdictions accept electronic signatures broadly, but property, wills and some legal instruments often require more. Check what the specific document demands.

  • Your signature image is sensitiveA clean image of your signature can be reused by anyone who obtains it. Treat the file as you would the ink version.

  • Nothing is uploaded hereThe document and the signature are combined in this tab, which is exactly what you want for a contract.

Your file, and what the page does

Your file is never uploaded. Sign PDF reads it into this browser tab and processes it with pdf-lib on your own device. There is no upload endpoint in the application and no copy on any server — closing the tab discards it.

What the page does send or fetch

Ads on the page
The site is funded by advertising, so the page loads Google AdSense. That carries the usual web basics — IP address, browser, referring page — as on any ad-supported site.
An anonymous usage counter
When Sign PDF finishes we record that the tool ran, whether it succeeded and how long it took. No file data, no identifier, no cookie.

Your file is not on that list. How this works.
