What you are adding
The words are drawn into the image. They cannot be selected, searched or edited afterwards, and they will not be read by a screen reader — so the same information should exist as real text nearby.
The text scales with the image. Type that is comfortable at full size can be illegible in a thumbnail, which is where most images are first seen.
Making it readable
- Contrast against the photo
White text on a bright sky disappears. A subtle shadow, a darkened band, or moving the text to a quieter part of the image all fix it.
- Stay clear of the edges
Platforms crop unpredictably. Keeping text within the middle 80% survives most reframing.
- Size for the thumbnail
If it is not legible at a quarter size, it is too small — that is how most people will encounter it first.
Before you publish it
Fonts have licences — Most fonts installed on your device are licensed for personal use. Commercial use of a typeface is a separate permission.
So does the photograph — Adding text to someone else's image does not make it yours. Stock licences usually permit modification but not redistribution as your own work.
Check it at final size — Look at the export at the size it will actually appear, not zoomed in while editing.

Your file, and what the page does
Your file is never uploaded. Add Text to Image reads it into this browser tab and processes it with your browser's own Canvas engine on your own device. There is no upload endpoint in the application and no copy on any server — closing the tab discards it.
Because the result is rebuilt from pixels, the source file's EXIF metadata does not survive into it. Camera model, timestamp and any GPS coordinates recorded by your phone are simply not present in the output — a side effect of how canvas encoding works, and a useful one before posting a photo publicly.

- An anonymous usage counter
